2022 GDPA Online Engagement for Grand Ceremony  carried forward the main visual concept of the "fingerprint" to create a limited-time interactive website exclusively for the award ceremony.

Overview

The main visual for the 2022 Golden Pin Design Award Ceremony was created by designer Yang Shih-Ching, with Block Studio carrying forward the visual language and creative concept to develop a limited-time interactive website exclusively for the event. It was more than just a website — it was an invitation.

Concept

Fingerprint Recognition: A New Take on the Online Experience
For the Golden Pin Design Award invitation site, I used fingerprint recognition as a metaphor to suggest a sense of identity and entry. The landing page features playful characters formed from fingerprint shapes — when flipped, they resemble palm lines, extending the theme of identity and recognition in a subtle, engaging way.

Inversion

What kind of world will the fingerprint lead you to?
Hidden on the homepage is a small easter egg — when users discover a specific trigger point, the site shifts into dark mode. This visual reversal echoes the chaos of anonymous online behavior. Through disordered graphics and inverted colors, it invites users to reflect: In a digital world where identities can be easily flipped, are we slowly being controlled by the virtual realm itself?

Personalization

Freely Create Your Own Poster Visual
I wanted to invite every user to freely express themselves by drawing their own one-of-a-kind invitation card through interactive mouse-based tools. Not only nominees and guests, but the general public could also join in, save, download, and share their creations on social media. These submitted visuals were then extended by the stage design team and became part of the dynamic visuals shown during the ceremony — turning individual expression into a collective experience.

Co-Creation

A Shared Spirit of Creative Imagination
The gallery wall brought together the public’s creative submissions, collecting diverse interpretations of design into one shared space. Each personalized invitation could be viewed through a scrolling display, and visuals created by participants were also featured throughout the award ceremony.
